General rules for entering Brazil

Brazilians and foreigners must present:

  • proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 OR
  • proof of carrying out an antigen or RT-PCR test, with a negative or undetectable result for Covid-19, carried out one day before departure.

Proof of vaccination or testing must be presented, before boarding, to the airline responsible for the flight or to the person responsible for the sports and recreational vessel, sailboats, yachts, ferries, ferries, rafts and catamarans. If entry is by land, documents must be presented at the land control point or to those responsible for international road and metro passenger transport services.


Rules applicable to children:

  • children under 12 are exempt from presenting proof of vaccination or tests;
  • for children over 12 years old, the general rules apply (mandatory presentation of proof of vaccination OR negative test).

Rules applicable cruise ship cargo vessels and offshore platforms

The conditions for the embarkation and disembarkation of passengers and crew on maritime cruise ships and for the embarkation and disembarkation of crew on maritime platforms in Brazilian jurisdictional waters and on cargo, port and maritime support vessels, including those with crew from another country, are defined in the rules published by Anvisa:

  • cruise ships
  • cargo, maritime and port support vessels.

Information about proof of vaccination:

  • must be printed or electronically; (receipts that are exclusively in QR-CODE format are not accepted);
  • it must contain the name of the traveler, the trade name or name of the manufacturer of the vaccine, applied dose(s) and the date(s) of application of the dose(s);
  • vaccines approved by Anvisa, the World Health Organization (WHO) or the authority of the country where the traveler was immunized are valid;
  • the application of the single dose or the last dose of the primary vaccination schedule must have occurred at least 14 days before the departure date.

Documents issued abroad must be presented in Portuguese, Spanish or English.
